Dear Members,

Welcome to the busiest time of year for pickleball on the Cape. With some days over 100 people coming to play at our courts in Marstons Mills, what would we do without court monitors?  We even have a speaker in the shed if anyone would like to use it. July monitor signups are full except for one day.  We’ve already started signups for August.  A big thanks to all that have offered their services for monitoring.  This year, we are raffling two, $50 gift cards each month for those that have signed up on the calendar to monitor.  The winners for the last week of May and June raffle are: Carol Zais and Craig Curtin.

Along with the speaker for everyone to hear when it’s busy, we’re trying an “On Deck Circle” in an attempt to speed up play. You’ll see a ‘green patch’ to stand on for the next group going out. There are times that we just can’t locate all the group members going out next and this might help getting all four members out right away.

We have had several neighborhood complaints lately regarding early and late play, some playing as early as 6:00 AM and as late as 8:30 PM. I don’t believe it is any of our members as our Rec. Director, John Gleason has chased them off. Hopefully, it won’t continue to happen. As a reminder, please do not start play until 8:00 a.m.

Barnstable Pickleball has donated a total of $6,020 to the Alzheimer's Association of Cape Cod. Judy Eide has herself raised $4,100 and our Members Tournament raised $1,182.  The BP comm. voted to donate an additional $718 to bring the total to over the $6,000 mark.  Special thanks to Judy for spearheading this fundraiser.

As a reminder, the Beach Party is August 14, and the deadline to attend is July 31st.  $10. for members and $25. for a spouse or guest. Mail your checks to: P.O. Box 68 Centerville, MA 02632.  There is no Vemo or PayPal available for this event.

Happy Pickling,
BP comm.
